Speak of the wolve…
During our wildlife explorations, our educational guides will meet you. For an hour, our explorer-guides will be present in the walkways to facilitate observation, answer your questions, separate fact from fiction, and reveal the unique characteristics of the animals. Observation becomes more engaging and accessible thanks to tangible materials: feathers, fur, footprints, eggs, skulls, and many other natural treasures. The European wolf is one of the most iconic carnivores of our continent, but also one of the most surrounded by myths.
At Le PAL, this encounter allows you to discover an animal quite different from the legends: a discreet, organized predator, essential to the proper functioning of ecosystems. Our guides will help you understand pack life, a true family structure where each member plays a specific role. You will discover how wolves communicate with each other (howls, postures, scents) and how they cooperate to hunt, raise their young, or defend their territory.
This exploration is also an opportunity to discuss the natural return of the wolf to France, the challenges of coexistence with human activities, and the importance of large predators in biodiversity.
The wolf holds a special place in our culture and has inspired many expressions: to be ravenous, to be known as the white wolf, to throw oneself into the wolf's mouth… But it is also to the wolf that we owe the expression "in single file." Indeed, wolves often move one behind the other, and in Old French, wolf was "leu." Thus, one would find one leu at the tail of another leu.
