Cikananga Wildlife Center

The Cikananga Wildlife Centre (CWC) is a non-governmental organisation based in Indonesia, dedicated to the protection and conservation of Indonesia’s wildlife.

Established in 2001, the centre plays a vital role in combating the extinction of endangered species, particularly due to illegal wildlife trafficking and deforestation.

The Cikananga Wildlife Centre takes in wild animals (mammals, birds, reptiles), often following seizures or rescues. Many arrive in poor condition and require care before being rehabilitated and then released back into the wild, where possible.

The centre is now one of the largest rescue and conservation centres in Indonesia, caring for several hundred animals.

What was the money used for?

To fund the costs of equipment and facilities for the Cikananga Wildlife Care Centre.

Urgent improvements were needed to reduce the risks associated with the illegal wildlife trade (150 Rothschild’s mynas in 2014). The CCTV system was replaced to ensure effective monitoring and protect high-value species.
