Protecting species and habitats

LPO Isère is the local branch of the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

It is an organisation dedicated to the protection of birds, wildlife and their habitats, as well as, more broadly, the conservation of biodiversity.

With a strong local presence, LPO Isère carries out practical initiatives to better understand, protect and promote nature within its area, by engaging citizens, local authorities and local stakeholders.

It is part of a recognised national and international network that has been highly active in nature conservation in France for over 100 years.

What was the money used for?

Contributing to the restoration and conservation of yellow-bellied toad populations in Isère (2025–2029).

The three main objectives of this project are: to increase the population size of yellow-bellied toads at the four sites managed by the LPO; to ensure the ecological quality of the sites for the yellow-bellied toad; and to develop a long-term strategy—based on the results of this three-year project—for the conservation of the yellow-bellied toad in the Alps (management of aquatic and terrestrial habitats, population monitoring, monitoring of reproductive success, assessment of threats, population restoration, etc.).

The LPO protects not only birds, but also all the ecosystems on which they depend (wildlife, flora and habitats).
