Sahara Conservation

Sahara Conservation is an international organisation dedicated to protecting the biodiversity of the Sahara Desert and the Sahel.

Founded in 2004, it works to preserve some of the world’s most endangered species and ecosystems in an extremely challenging environment.

Its main objective is to halt and reverse the decline of Sahelo-Saharan wildlife by protecting natural habitats and supporting local communities.

The organisation operates on the ground (particularly in Niger and Chad) and works with governments, scientists and communities to ensure the long-term conservation of species and desert landscapes.

What was the money used for?

The Le PAL NATURE FOUNDATION helped address an urgent need related to a program within the Gadabedji Biosphere Reserve to feed North African ostriches.

Did you know ?

Some species in the Sahara had completely disappeared from the wild, such as the scimitar-horned oryx, before being reintroduced through conservation programmes.
